Educators Stress Institute was established in June 2005 by  Andrea  Thompson, PhD.

Dr. Thompson recognized the importance of having educational leaders develop the ability to identify and address variables within the educational environment  which are likely to increase administrators and teacher stress, ultimately impeding student achievement and teacher performance. She authors books that focus on developing an understanding of how educators’ evaluative beliefs, appraisal approaches, and perceptions, influence stress levels. Educators who have used these resources are able to understand how:

  1. Leadership styles impact stress

  2. Events and situations within a school setting incite counterproductive withdrawal behavior.

  3. Job design incites job dissatisfaction.

  4. Role demands, overload, and conflicts influence teacher stress.

Educators Stress Institute (E.S.I) also known as Teacher Stress Institute, recognizes that as our education system endures and responds to reform, it goes without saying that educational leaders must ensure that their teachers are capable of performing under the strain which is likely to occur as a result of change, while ensuring that they themselves do not succumb to the pressure which such a monumental task is likely to cause.

E.S.I is therefore deeply committed to delivering resources and staff development materials which will assist educational leaders in understanding and combating  stress. We begin by examining the underlying theories of educators' stress, and providing theoretical and practical approaches to modifying stress in school settings.
